You'll Never Get Wet Wearing Y-3's SS21 Collection
Almost everything is covered in GORE-TEX, features sealed seams, or is elevated to protect you from the elements.

adidas and Yohji Yamamoto‘s avant-garde sportswear line Y-3 is back for Spring/Summer 2021, delivering Chapter 1 of its “Tsuyu”-themed collection.
“Tsuyu” is the Japanese name for “Rainy Season,” as a result informing SS21’s collection with plenty of weather-ready pieces. While this season is typically a time for shorts, T-shirts and slides elsewhere around the world, Y-3 notes the ever-changing environmental factors of cityscapes — especially in Japan where rainy season runs during the summer months. As a result, garments throughout the collection are equipped with weatherproofing materials but comply with a lightweight, easy-on, easy-off approach.
For example, Y-3’s parkas, hoodies, and knitwear have been infused with GORE-TEX waterproofing, and all have been further weather-protected with sealed seams. Caps, bucket hats, and bags are multi-functional, making them just as useful in the rain as they are for carrying things or protecting your head from other elements.
As expected, Y-3 SS21 is avant-garde in its finish, with standout pieces such as the parka being served in black and looking more like a cape-ish poncho, completely encasing the wearer in its GORE-TEX protection. Last but by no means least is the label’s footwear offerings, which this season brings monochromatic updates to the Y-3 SHIKU RUN, Y-3 ORISAN, and Y-3 HICHO.
For the SHIKU RUN, Y-3 combines layered mesh and nylon to create a semi-translucent upper that houses its details within, looking as if the Three Stripe details are floating within the seams. The ORISAN comes with a new mesh upper that features leather details and an exaggerated heel, while the HICHO steals the show with its white leather upper that finds itself on a maximalized, thick sole unit.
The Y-3 SS21 collection can be seen in the lookbook above and purchased on the adidas Y-3 website now.
