The Belgian design and Antwerp Six member Walter Van Beirendonck has had quite the year, hitting headlines after he blasted Virgil Abloh and Louis Vuitton as “copycats,” and now he’s back with another statement-making moment: the green bear sweatshirt.

Van Beirendonck is never one to shy away from delivering something playful or daring. Recently, the designer released a pair of spike-covered sneakers and his Fall/Winter 2020 collection was filled with prints, patterns, and color. In true Van Beirendonck style, a green sweater can’t be just a green sweater, instead, it features a three-dimensional bear design growing out of the front.

The sweater is made from a technical jersey weave fabric, giving it a smooth neoprene-like finish. From there, two little ears appear by the wearer’s collar bone, while two black eyes and a large nose have been added on the sternum. Arms and legs hang from the chest, completing the youthful look.

Walter Van Beirendonck’s bear sweatshirt in green retails for $740 USD and can be bought from retailers such as LN-CC now. Take a closer look at the piece above.
