'Star Wars' and adidas Originals Want to Introduce C-3PO's Signature Top Ten Hi
The duo suggests a new strategy: metallic gold everything.
Following on from yesterday’s Darth Vader-inspired Superstar, Star Wars and adidas Originals have unveiled the Top Ten Hi that pays homage to everyone’s favorite gold-plated humanoid protocol droid, C-3PO.
The “Metallic Gold/Cloud White” sneaker has its roots indebted in basketball as well as in hip hop cultures of both the East and West Coasts. Now, however, adidas Originals’ Top Ten Hi finds itself inspired by an otherworldly scene — the outer space adventures of the nervous, comical robot C-3PO.
As a result, the shoe is covered in metallic gold synthetic leather and sports a large C-3PO tag on the tongue. The robot’s head is embossed in black into the rear of the shoe, and is joined by a slogan that wraps around the collar quoting “But sir, nobody worries about upsetting a droid.”
In addition to these details, you can find “STAR” and “WARS” lace locks, gold-toned eyelets that look like rivets, a gold-gum outsole, and a branded insole.
