Aaron Sorkin's 'The Trial of the Chicago 7' Debuts First Trailer
Following the events of the 1968 protests in Chicago.
Netflix‘s upcoming all-star film The Trial of the Chicago 7 has just released its first trailer, given fans a closer look at the movie that follows the true-story court proceedings for those involved with the protests during the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
Originally produced by Paramount Pictures for a theatrical release but ultimately taken over by Netflix due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the feature film was written and directed by Academy Award-winner Aaron Sorkin, whose previous works include The Social Network, Molly’s Game, and Moneyball. It also features an all-star cast, including Sacha Baron Cohen, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Frank Langella, Eddie Redmayne, Mark Rylance, Jeremy Strong, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Michael Keaton, John Carroll Lynch and Alex Sharp.
“What was intended to be a peaceful protest at the 1968 Democratic National Convention turned into a violent clash with police and the National Guard,” reads the official synopsis from Netflix. “The organizers of the protest—including Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Rubin, Tom Hayden and Bobby Seale—were charged with conspiracy to incite a riot and the trial that followed was one of the most notorious in history.”
The Trial of the Chicago 7 will arrive on Netflix on October 16.
Elsewhere in entertainment, TENET has made more than $200 million USD at the global box office.
