SpringHill Entertainment, LeBron James and Maverick Carter’s global entertainment and consumer brand, has inked a new four-year deal with Universal Pictures.

Having collaborated for several years, the new deal is a step forward for SpringHill Entertainment and Universal. Donna Langley, Chairman of Universal Filmed Entertainment Group, announced the new partnership: “LeBron, Maverick and the team at SpringHill are content creators with a purpose, and we’re excited to partner with filmmakers who challenge us to tell stories that move culture forward. SpringHill’s projects are compelling, entertaining, inspiring and aim to start important conversations, which we need now more than ever.”

The two entities have already started on three projects: a movie based on LeBron’s book “Shooting Stars,” a film titled New Kid, based on Jerry Craft’s graphic novel and Catch the Wave, a story of a young Black woman whose romance with a surfer leads her to discover the untold history of racism of Manhattan’s “Bruce’s Beach.” The company “look[s] forward to leveraging resources across the NBCU portfolio to amplify those titles and bring important voices like SpringHill to a global audience,” Langley added.

In case you missed it, Adam Sandler is set to star in SpringHill Entertainment’s sports film Hustle.
