adidas Originals is bringing back the Torsion Artillery from 1991, an OG basketball shoe that was made when high-tops were truly high. It was popularized by B-Boy culture and appeared in the 1989 comedy Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, where Bill (Alex Winter) and Ted (Keanu Reeves) start the band Wyld Stallyns.
In fact, Wyld Stallyns has been tapped for one of the adidas Originals KC Torsion Artillery remakes. Appearing in white and red, the high top sneaker boot has been graced with the fictional band’s logo on its heel, looking as if it’s bursting out of the leather.
The black and white pair features a large adidas Trefoil logo off-centered on the heel, which is more traditional than the other colorway. The shoe itself is made almost entirely of leather, featuring three large stripes on the mid-panel in a glossy rubberized material and a collar with colored cut-outs on it.
The tongue sticks up above the collar, showing off its oversized adidas Trefoil logo and branding. Laces run the full length of the tongue and lead down to a perforated toe box, which is met by more cut-outs on the front-quarter.
Rounding out the pair is its Torsion wishbone-equipped sole unit. The mid-sole is served in a vintage cream color on both pairs, featuring a carved and sculpted look. Underneath, adidas highlights the Torsion bar and various pressure points on the sole.
Take a look at the adidas Originals KC Torsion Artillery in both colorways above, and pick up a pair from retailers such as 43einhalb when they release on October 9 for €159.95 EUR each (approx. $187 USD).
