Qasimi's AW20 Collection Is Inspired by Life's Cyclical Nature

Life, death, rebirth.

The idea of daily renewal forms the basis of Qasimi‘s Autumn/Winter 2020 collection, drawing inspiration from the cycle of sunrise to sunset. The range, aimed at the urban nomad, plays with the polarised human experience – dark and light colors are the mirror to this.

There are darker undertones at work throughout the collection and yet, where this is darkness, there also is light. The colors of the collection jump from intensely rich earth tones – Persian plum, Arabica and Scarab – to the warming hues of myrrh and turmeric. Both palettes are cooled down and cemented by a range of grays, blacks and off-whites.

As opposed to previous seasons, the silhouette is decidedly closer to the body. Relaxed tailoring on garments is slightly cinched, softened by deep velvets that evoke rich furnishings. More everyday elements have been refined using elevated materials considered detailing.

Other key features from the collection include see-through fabrics, heavier cash wool, billowing materials that are juxtaposed with stiff coated felts, removable badges of military influence and the words ‘Renewal, Rebirth, Immortality’ – a promise to strive to continue Khalid Al Qasimi’s legacy – amongst other short quotes.
