Octavian Taps Gunna and SAINt JHN for New Track "Famous"
From his upcoming debut album executive produced by Skepta.
Octavian‘s debut studio album is on its way, set to release before the end of 2020 via Black Butter/RCA Records. After premiering his first single, “Rari (Chapter 1)” with Future, the London emcee returns with another high-profile collaborative effort in “Famous” featuring Gunna and SAINt JHN.
On “Famous,” Octavian maneuvers through the negative aspects of his ever-growing fame and looks to Gunna and SAINt JHN to help paint that picture following their respective meteoric rises to superstardom. “The concept of “Fame” should be connected to the celebration of one’s achievements; unfortunately, nowadays it is the glamorisation of unthought-about entertainment,” he said in a press statement. His new album is slated to be executive produced by Skepta and follows his two mixtapes SPACEMAN and Endorphins.
Outside of his forthcoming project, Octavian has kept busy with a number of standout features. His Gorillaz Song Machine collaboration “Friday 13th” showed off his ear for melody and strong songwriting sensibilities with subtle, memorable lines. In March, he and fellow countryman Skepta reconnected for “Papi Chulo”, a hard-hitting offering produced by Grizzly, Young Kid, and BricksDaMane.
In HYPEBEAST’s “Octavian Wants to Take Over the World” feature from June 2019, Octavian hinted at his plans for the coming year. “I’m going to be the biggest in the world, but to get there, I have to go to America.” After planning on a move to Los Angeles, his debut album was pushed back from February to an unspecified time due to the coronavirus quarantines. He did continue to say, “I’m keeping it under wraps. I’m going to go to LA and make a big, great album and then come back and prove to my own city that you’re allowed to be different.”
