maharishi Taps Kanata For Hand-Knitted Cowichan Collection
Crafted using indiginous weaving techniques and traditional practices.
Following the release of its cyberpunk-inspired SS20 capsule collection, London-based label maharishi has opted for a more traditional release for Fall/Winter 2020 after teaming up with Canadian knitwear label Kanata for a two-piece Cowichan capsule collection.
Hand-knitted in Canada, these heavy knit offerings have been made using indiginous Salish weaving techniques and traditional Fair Isle knitting practices. Decorated with symbols of peace – a pacifist twist on artworks inspired by Afghan War Rugs – maharishi’s black Anti-War Cowichan reinforces the brand’s stance against war and violence. The Camo Cowichan Cardigan features camouflage ‘DPM: Mamushi’, a nod to the 1980’s ROK ‘Academy’ camouflage from South Korea.
Both maharishi x Kanata Cowichans are available now from the maharishi web store retailing at £550 (approximately $720 USD).
In other news, ARKET has dropped a new art-inspired capsule collection with KG Nilson.
