Usher has released the video for his latest song “I Cry.” The emotional number honors those fighting at the frontlines of systemic racism and injustices, namely activists and organizations. The visual also includes photography from artist and humanitarian, Gordon Parks. Parks was a key figure in 20th century photography and his stunning photos revealed much of American culture from the 1940s up until the 1970s. Issues of civil rights, poverty, race relations and urban life were his main focus not only as an artist but as an activist as well.

Edited in mostly black and white, the intimate video shows Usher directly staring at the camera while he performs the song. Images from Gordon Parks works are slowly imposed to blend in and fade out. Imagery of Martin Luther King, Jr., protest signs, flags, jails and everyday family life are revealed throughout the visual.

Proceeds from the song will also go to LISC, which will be donated to black owned businesses and black led community groups. You can also directly make a donation as well.
