The sacai x
Earlier this year, we got a closer look at what was called the sacai x Nike Vaporwaffle in “Sail/Light Bone/Game Royal/Sport Fuchsia.” Despite the change in name, the sneaker is the same. The pair is made from mesh and suede, and continues on from the duo’s previous endeavors with plenty of doubling-up on materials, details, and components.
For example, there is a leather Swoosh that sits alongside a print-transferred Swoosh, clashing sacai x Nike branding on the heel, two tongues each sporting a tongue tag, two sets of monochromatic laces, and most notably, a stacked two-piece sole unit.
The sole unit is the sneaker’s talking point. The first layer appears in white and curves at the heel, cupping the leather rear-quarter. The second layer is served in black and cream, sitting flat so that there is an angular gap looking as if it has been cut out of the sole unit at the rear. The outsole also appears in black and features the shoe’s signature waffle traction, once again curving upwards at the heel for a retro runner aesthetic.
Take a look at the sacai x Nike Pegasus Vaporwaffle SP in “Black/Summit White/Pure Platinum” on-foot above. You can expect a release sometime this fall.
In other news, LI-NING has presented its technical SS21 sneaker collection.
