Patek Philippe Reworks Its Grand Complication Minute Repeater Tourbillon

Constantly elevating the standard of Swiss luxury watchmaking, Patek Philippe has now pushed the limits once again by crafting an extremely exquisite minute repeater tourbillon with the reworking one of its grand complication movements: the famed calibre R 27.

Measuring 42mm in diameter and just 12.13mm in height, the new Ref. 5303R-001 comes in a luxurious 18K rose gold case and white gold inlays on its sides. Two sapphire crystals protect either side of the watch from scratches, UV, dust, and humidity, while providing a view for the wearer to admire the workings of the intricately redesigned calibre R TO 27 PS movement sitting underneath an open dial and black skeletonized hour and minute hands. The manual-wind movement itself was specifically reworked to display the hammer and gongs on the front side of the watch, as well as a view of the coveted tourbillon complication. The reverse side then reveals the bat wing-shaped openworked bridge, the brand’s famous Calatrava cross, as well as the white gold frame for the movement. Completing the watch is a black hand-stitched alligator strap paired with a rose gold fold-over clasp.
