Maserati's 330 HP Ghibli Hybrid Is Its First-Ever Electrified Car
And it still produces the quintessential Maserati exhaust note.
Luxury Italian automotive company Maserati has unveiled its first-ever electrified vehicle, the Ghibli Hybrid. The entry-level four-door model maintains the marques sporty automotive spirit but has turned over a new leaf in its search for being environmentally friendly.
As a result of its newfound cause, the Ghibli Hybrid comes equipped with an unassuming four-cycling engine. However, this is paired with electrification in the form of a Belt Starter Generator, eBooster (which acts like a turbocharger), and a 48-volt battery, creating a hybrid that’s good for 330 HP.
This level of power is enough to propel the family car from 0-62 MPH in just 5.7 seconds, and it will keep on going all the way to 158 MPH. Furthermore, the inclusion of hybrid power has meant that the Ghibli now has a better weight distribution, thus improving handling and not just its efficiency. Despite its electrification, the Ghibli Hybrid maintains its distinctive Maserati exhaust note.
On the outside, Maserati has accented the vehicle with dark blue details, hailing the color as the universal shade for “clean mobility.” There is a new front grille, a redesigned rear light cluster that now appears in a boomerang shape, and small aesthetic tweaks all around add an essence of aggressiveness.
