The video is titled “Meet Your New Self,” and captures a range of models in a world of pleats. The models are in a small white room that has a window looking out to the sky, and find themselves intrigued by the new season HOMME PLISSÉ Issey Miyake garments hanging beside them.
A diverse cast explores the collection, trying things on and soon realizing that they have now met their new selves. They start dancing and jumping around, they begin to play with flowers made from the same fabrics, and shades, as those found in the collection.
At the end of the video, all three subjects come together to exhibit the collection while performing a kind of synchronized dance. Here, we get an even better look at HOMME PLISSÉ Issey Miyake’s SS21 offering, which is packed with season-appropriate colors, lots of draping and loose-fit tailoring, and some more interesting pieces too, such as a striped two-piece comprising a trucker jacket and matching pants.
Standouts from the SS21 collection include the new bleach series, which was created on denim and then transferred to the polyester pieces. Other notable looks include a full hologram moiré mesh two-piece tracksuit, a new digital-looking print titled “House” which adds blocks of color to signature pleated garments, as well as the new range of cotton linen shirts that appear in bold shades of green and purple.
Rounding out the SS21 offering from the Japanese mainstay is a new pair of trainers. Dubbed the Canvas Desk Shoes Hi, the look is equally minimalistic and is offered in either black or white. They are made in association with WAKOUWA.
Take a look at the HOMME PLISSÉ Issey Miyake SS21 collection in the video above, and expect pieces to release in stores worldwide in the coming months.
In case you missed it, Y/Project also presented its SS21 collection recently.
