FACETASM's SS21 Is a Personal Reflection on Happy Memories

With a new emphasis on structured garments.

In lieu of a runway show, FACETASM has unveiled its Spring/Summer 2021 collection as a video and campaign shoot, which its designer claims is inspired by his own happy memories.

In stark contrast to its Spring/Summer 2020 collection, which focused on “unfinished” pieces, SS21 emphasises cleaner silhouettes and hybridised garments. Entitled “More Memories”, Ochiai has delved into his past and sought inspiration through happy memories, as well as a series of drawings created by his young son.

Typically for the brand, several of the pieces have been skewed and reconfigured. A denim jacket warps around the body, a trench coat is spliced with panels of tartan, and and a track jacket is made up of patchworked-together fabrics. Outerwear, sportswear and more tailored pieces are all showcased, each styled with a typically FACETASM twist: the addition of Elizabethan-style ruffs across several of the looks.

The brand, along with the other labels showcasing as part of Paris Fashion Week, has been forced to find alternative methods of presentation, as runway shows have been impossible to stage in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Watch the FACETASM SS21 show below and keep up-to-date with its latest releases via the brand web store.

HYPEBEAST recently spoke with with FACETASM designer Hiromici Ochiai, where he discussed how he has adapted to working from home during quarantine lockdowns.
