Black Thought Premieres First Single Off New LP, "Thought Vs Everybody"
The first sounds from ‘Streams of Thought, Vol. 3: Cane and Abel.’
Last week, The Roots‘ MC and lyrical icon Black Thought announced that his newest solo LP, Streams of Thought, Vol. 3: Cane and Abel, would drop later this month on July 31. Now, we have our first listen into the album, with the release of its first single, “Thought Vs Everybody.”
In this three-minute long verse, Thought goes after, well, everybody. And just as he done time after time, the Philadelphia emcee proves why he still belongs in your top five, now and forever. There’s so many snippets that showcase his lyrical prowess, so here’s just a small sample: “Lady Liberty face full of concealer / I’m half Masta Killa and half Hugh Masekela / Latrophobia, that’s a fear of the healer / Kaepernick is an activist, y’all in fear of the kneeler / Everything’s obtuse, nothin’ is obscene / Another young life was lost on livestream / Another great fell from grace in high esteem / Then the clock struck thirteen, we in some kind of dream.”
Produced by Sean C with appearances from Swizz Beatz, Pusha-T, Schoolboy Q and more, Streams of Thought, Vol. 3: Cane and Abel will hit all major streaming platforms on July 31.
