Watch SiR Give Live Performances of "John Redcorn" and "The Recipe"
Following his moving cover of The Isley Brothers’ “Footsteps in the Dark.”
Just a week after delivering his emotional and soulful cover of The Isley Brothers‘ “Footsteps in the Dark”, Top Dawg Entertainment‘s own resident singer-songwriter SiR returns for another moving black and white performance as part of Vevo’s ongoing Ctrl.At.Home series, bringing live renditions of “John Redcorn” and “The Recipe” to his recording studio.
Back in April, SiR released a King of the Hill inspired animated visual for “John Redcorn” that perfectly encapsulated the isolation and heartbreak with label-mate Ab-Soul playing the role of conspiracy theorist Dale Gribble. SiR continues to ride the wave of his critically acclaimed Chasing Summer project from over a year ago while also lending a hand to his brother D Smoke’s growing musical career.
Last year HYPEBEAST FRANCE sat down with SiR to talk about his project, signing with RCA Records and being included in Kendrick Lamar‘s “DAMN” Tour. He also described his music. “My music is Inglewood. It’s L.A. R&B. It’s got a little bit of hip-hop twang to it. If we’re cooking in a pot, I always start with like soul music and stuff like that but I don’t think my music would be the same if I didn’t had the bottom, drums kicking my snare and my base sitting in a hip-hop pocket. I would say it’s like a great blend of L.A. R&B and hip-hop, you know what I mean? And a little bit of rap in there too.”

In more music news, A Tribe Called Quest founding member Ali Shaheed Muhammad and producer Adrian Younge tapped legendary funk and acid jazz pioneer Roy Ayers for “Synchronize Vibration” from their upcoming Jazz Is Dead 2 project.
