Roots Picnic 2020 Moved to Virtual Stage
With headliners Lil Baby, SZA, Roddy Ricch, H.E.R. and more.
Live Nation Urban and The Roots‘ thirteenth annual Roots Picnic 2020 is still committed to delivering live music, even through the COVID-19 pandemic. The event has been moved to the virtual stage through a live stream with a slightly different lineup from February’s initial announcement.
Artists Lil Baby, SZA, Roddy Ricch, H.E.R., G Herbo and Earthgang, to name a few, will be headliners, with former first lady Michelle Obama co-hosting the event alongside Questlove and Black Thought of The Roots. This year’s event will be partnering with Obama’s nonpartisan nonprofit organization When We All Vote as a voter registration drive. Outvote, a mobile platform for unregistered voters, will be integrated with the event where audiences will be able to sign up to volunteer for Obama’s nonprofit. The former president tweeted, “couldn’t be more excited that @whenweallvote is teaming up to co-host @TheRoots Picnic on June 27! Join us and get registered to vote: http://weall.vote/rootspicnic.”
Most recently, Independent Record Stores have banded together to host a livestream fundraiser event.
