Converse Dishes Chuck 70 Collection Inspired by the 1988 NBA All-Star Game
With iterations that pay homage to the Celtics, SuperSonics, Lakers and Bulls.

The NBA and Converse have teamed up to deliver a collection of Chuck 70s inspired by the 1988 All-Star Game. Offered in iterations that pay homage to the Boston Celtics, Seattle SuperSonics, Los Angeles Lakers and Chicago Bulls — the latter being the city where the game was hosted — each model is crafted with the traditional canvas fabric with references to classic Chuck Taylor design features of the era, including a vintage license plate, star midsole print and the Converse All-Star patch.
Each tongue is stamped with the team’s corresponding logos and colors, with the “Celtics,” “SuperSonics” and “Lakers” iterations bearing an additional circular emblem of the All-Star Game on the inner ankle. A special six-star pattern in blue and red can also be found on the vertical heel strip of the “Celtics” and “SuperSonics” models. While the three aforementioned colorways arrive with a tonal “Natural Ivory” upper, the “Bulls” fully capture the team’s color scheme. The bright red hue completely covers the shoe’s upper while the contrasting white creates a divide on the tongue and laces, and the word “EAST” is vertically imprinted down the inner ankle. All the iterations rest on a white midsole that features either black or red and white piping, and a visible workmark outsole rounds up the silhouette.
The NBA x Converse Chuck 70 was first unveiled at All-Star Weekend in Chicago and is the result of the footwear giant’s ongoing partnership with the NBA By You program. The 1988 All-Star Game was won by the East 138-133, with Michael Jordan scoring a game-high of 40 points to become the game’s MVP. He was joined by basketball superstars such as Larry Bird, Patrick Ewing, Charles Barkley, Isiah Thomas and Doc Rivers, while the West was led by Magic Johnson and included Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone, Clyde Drexle and James Worthy.
The NBA x Converse Chuck 70 “Celtics,” “SuperSonics,” “Lakers” and “Bulls” is available now on the Converse online store for $100 USD each.
