Black Midi Rehearses Short Stories on New Project 'Tales of Suspense and Revenge'
Featuring select readings of Guy de Maupassant, Edgar Allan Poe, Ernest Hemingway, and more.

Black Midi recently celebrated June’s Bandcamp Day (June 5) with a special release to mark the occasion. Sharing The Black Midi Anthology Vol. 1: Tales of Suspense and Revenge, the London-based rock quartet’s latest project sees the group reading classic short stories and poems over original instrumentals.
On the project, guitarist/vocalist Geordie Greep reads Guy de Maupassant’s “A Woman’s Confession” and Edgar Allan Poe’s “Hop Frog,” with drummer Morgan Simpson reading Ernest Hemingway’s “Out of Season,” and bassist Cameron Picton reciting Robert Tressell’s “Who is to Pay?” from The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists. The band has also supplied the three instrumentals used for the readings.
Black Midi most recently released its critically-acclaimed debut album, Schlagenheim, last year, which went on to be shortlisted for the 2019 Mercury Prize. In May, the band performed a one-act play titled The Beggar And The King.
