Adam F. Goldberg Reveals Pitch and Concept Art for 'The Goonies 2'
More information about the potential sequel surfaces.
In April, The Goldbergs creator Adam F. Goldberg revealed that he had been working on a script for his idea of The Goonies 2 for the last nine years. Now, the producer and writer has unveiled concept art for the potential movie.
The film is dubbed The Goonies 2: Never Say Die, continuing on from the hit 1985 adventure comedy directed by Richard Donner. The original, which stars Sean Astin and Josh Brolin, is one of 1980s best-loved kid’s films, as it follows a group of friends on an adventure to find hidden treasure in their hometown.
On his Twitter account, Goldberg described himself as an “ultimate fan” of the original Goonies movie, and said he had originally begun writing a sequel script “for fun.” He had even confirmed a meeting with Donner prior to the coronavirus pandemic.
I rival @joshgad as ultimate fan of #TheGoonies. For the last 9 years I’ve been secretly writing PART 2 for fun. It’s my masterpiece. I even had a big meeting scheduled with Richard Donner… canceled ’cause of the lockdown! THE GOONIES 2 WILL happen when life resumes. Promise!!! pic.twitter.com/sBxgaDHjg0

The concept art is illustrated by Michael Barnard and shows a large skull with doors for teeth. The skull is engraved with Spanish writing which translates to “One mistake shall rain down fear/Feel the wrath of the Devil’s Tears.” No further details about the film have been revealed as of yet.
Thank you @slashfilm for writing about my quest to make this dream a reality! Spielberg and Donner have said that it’s impossible to come up with a great concept for The Goonies 2, but us Goonies never say die!!! https://t.co/I5lWDJqUvh
