Yohji Yamamoto and New Era Japan Prep Vacation-Ready "Travel Series"
Collaborative hats, cases and even a suitcase.
Yohji Yamamoto and New Era Japan’s ongoing partnership blossoms into a thematic series of accessories ideal for seasonal vacations with the “Travel Series” collaboration. Following the recent “Masterpiece Cap” joint effort, the duo have introduced a concise selection of function-driven accessories and wearables ideal for Yamamoto fans on the go.
The collection’s crown jewel is a rolling suitcase small enough to be brought on a plane as carry-on and large enough to carry a host of goods. Ideal for laptops, interior neoprene sections give way to large storage pockets, while the exterior boasts a two-way handle, an accessory-sized pocket and clip loops for attaching hats via New Era’s Cap Clip.
Furthermore, the loops play into the military inspiration that informs the other items. For example, a knit beanie takes cues from watch caps, with an interwoven COOLMAX fabric to heighten breathability. Elsewhere, a pair of 9THIRTY hats are crafted from EVA fabric that allows the hats to crumple without losing shape, ideal for in-flight storage. Finally, a passport case boasts a plethora of slit pockets that can fit card holders, pens, phones, maps and other close-to-hand items. Built-in cushions aid in preventing damage in transit.
Yohji Yamamoto’s “Travel Series” items hit New Era Japan’s web store on June 6.
Most recently, New Era introduced its Pikachu-heavy “Pokémon Collection”.
