Raheem Sterling Reportedly Set to Sign Record-Breaking Deal With PUMA
The Manchester City forward’s contract with Nike expires next month.
Manchester City and England footballer Raheem Sterling is reportedly on the brink of signing a record-breaking endorsement deal with PUMA. Details of the detail are currently scarce, although it is believed to be similar to the £100 million GBP (approximately $124 million USD) offer from Jordan Brand that was believed to be made to Sterling last year.
If the deal is signed, the 25-year-old winger will become PUMA’s highest-paid footballer as well as the face of the German brand’s global advertising strategy. Currently, Sterling is signed to Nike, for whom he has fronted numerous campaigns including a recent “Just Do It” advert and a Colin Kaepernick-inspired poster. Sterling’s contract with Nike runs out on June 30, with brands including New Balance, adidas and Under Armour also reportedly interested in signing him.
Back in February 2019, PUMA announced a long-term deal with Manchester City. This partnership could be crucial in convincing Sterling — one of City’s star players — to sign with the brand.
