British Fashion Council Provides Funding to 37 Businesses Hit by Coronavirus
Including Aries, Craig Green and Paria Farzaneh amongst others.
The British Fashion Council has announced the recipients of its BFC Foundation Fashion Fund, a £1,000,000 GBP (approximately $1,227,000 USD) pot of money to help designers and related businesses survive the Coronavirus crisis. Support from brands including Browns, Burberry and Paul Smith contributed to the support fund.
This initiative sees 37 British businesses provided with assistance, with names such as Aries, Craig Green and Paria Farzaneh all featured on the list. Additionally, a portion of the fund will also be allocated to students as part of the BFC’s commitment to supporting the next generation of British designers.
Speaking about the fund, BFC Chief Executive Caroline Rush explained that, “The need for support is immense. Our hope is to re-open the fund for future rounds, to help as many businesses as possible, and ensure the future growth and success of the British fashion industry.”
The BFC’s fund will re-open for more applications each time it passes the £500,000 (approximately $613,000 USD) threshold. You can see a full list of those who have been supported below.
In other fashion news, the luxury industry is not expected to recover from the coronavirus crisis until 2022.
