adidas Consortium Introduces Hiking-Ready FYW XTA
Complete with EQT and “Freddy” logos all around.
adidas Consortium has unveiled the FYW XTA, a retro-inspired hiking sneaker that combines an authentic trail aesthetic with various archived adidas design cues.
The pair is made from smooth black nubuck and beige mesh, and is covered in red accents highlighting components such as the EQT-badged fabric eyestays. The toe box sports beige nubuck and a myriad of holes, complementing the structured mesh to aid breathability.
A black rope lacing system weaves over the tongue and is locked down by the aforementioned red eyestays, which are secured by a set of black plastic D-rings. Elsewhere, we see a cut-out on the top of the tongue, a black neoprene sock liner, a pull tab at the heel and a chunky trail sole unit.
The sole unit sports various archived adidas design elements, from the signature FYW “Freddy” character to the EQT three stripe symbol. adidas branding and raised circular nodules grace the rear of the heel which extends up onto the shoe. The pair is complete with insoles that are printed with adidas’ EQT logo and the “Freddy” icon.
Take a look at the adidas Consortium FYW XTA in the gallery above, and pick up a pair for yourself from retailers such as Sneakersnstuff or Livestock for £129 GBP (approx. $159 USD) on May 9.
