Despite having laid off roughly 800 people at the beginning of 2019, video game company Activision Blizzard has now announced that it would be bringing on 2,000 new employees over the next year.

The news came from Bob Kotick, CEO of the company behind a whole range of massive hits including the Warcraft and Starcraft franchises, the more recent Call of Duty: Warzone, and even Candy Crush. Acknowledging that the coronavirus pandemic has greatly impacted the economy and job market negatively, Kotick wrote: “It takes heroes to make heroes. Over the next year, Activision Blizzard is aiming to hire over 2,000 employees so that our incredibly talented teams can continue making epic entertainment. Now more than ever, we know our global community needs jobs – and we are proud to help.”

At this moment, there’s no additional information on what roles would be open or which division — Activision, Blizzard, or King — would be bringing on these new members, but those interested in the upcoming opportunity should definitely keep an eye out for more updates coming from Activision Blizzard and Kotick.

Elsewhere in gaming, a remastered Diablo II is reportedly arriving later this year.
