Back in March, Houston rapper Maxo Kream revealed that his brother was shot and killed in a shooting in the Woodland Hills suburb of Los Angeles. “No words or caption can explain what I’m goin through,” Maxo stated in an Instagram post announcing the tragic news. “Never expected this or ever lost somebody this close to me.” Now Maxo returns with a powerful visual for his song “Brothers” featuring KCG Josh. The track came from his RCA Records and Roc Nation debut Brandon Banks, a project influenced heavily by his family, especially his complex relationship with his father.

The music video follows the rapper and his family through candlelight vigils complete with candid camera phone shots of his brother throughout. The lyrics to the track are as poignant as ever, as he rapped the following back in July 2019:

“Grew up with each other, we both had to struggle, we both had to hustle ’cause nobody gave to us/ We both from the gutter, grew up in the jungle, we fight one another, that made us tough/ Used to flip on the mattress and play in them puddles, now we flip packages, play with them duffels.”

“Brother” marks the fifth music video after he premiered “She Live”, his ScHoolboy Q collaboration “3AM”, the Bun B featuring “In My Trunk” music video and last month’s “Drizzy Draco”. Kream also offered up a feature on Drakeo the Ruler’s Free Drakeo project.

Watch the emotional “Brothers” video above and in more music updates, Drake recently joined Diddy to talk about how the Coronavirus quarantines has inspired a focused recording of his new project.
