Levi’s Vintage Clothing has unveiled a limited-edition version of its iconic 501 jean, celebrating a rare and popular piece from its archive. The all-Japanese jean is a reference to a popular 1966 501 that released in Japan in the 1990s before making its return as a very limited release to celebrate the opening of the new Levi’s store in Harajuku last year.

Constructed entirely from Japanese selvedge denim, the jean also features like-for-like reconstruction of all the Japanese detailing. This includes the back patch, red tab, fabric tags, packaging and button stamps all appearing in Japanese.

This launch marks the start of a new initiative from Levi’s, with all 501 shrink-to-fit fabrics for LVC set to be manufactured in Japan going forward.

The limited-edition Japanese jean is set to release on April 30, and will be available from stockists including Goodhood.

In other fashion news, Palace has released its final Spring 2020 editorial.
