"Inside the Making of 'Final Fantasy VII Remake'" With New Square Enix Video Series
The development team talk about making the game both new and nostalgic.
Square Enix has released the first installment of a new “Inside the Making of Final Fantasy VII Remake” video series, where the development team and creators partake in interviews about bringing the title to life after 23 years since the first game released on the original PlayStation.
The footage above introduces us to various members responsible for the game, such as producer Yoshinori Kitase (producer), Tetsuya Nomura (director and concept design), Kazushige Nojima (story and scenario), Naoki Hamaguchi (co-director – design and programming) and Motomu Toriyama (co-director scenario design).
Kitase was the original director for Final Fantasy VII, and he begins the video discussing how the remake came about and his mission to make the upcoming title new and nostalgic at the same time. Remake director Normura shared those sentiments, expressing a commitment to get the balance right for longtime players and gamers new to the franchise. The team also talk about the story of the remake and expanding on Midgar, with Normura explaining that he watched multiple play throughs and commentaries of the original title for ideas on exploring the city more.
