Snoop Dogg is going behind the camera to executive produce a television adaptation of Joe Ide’s novel series, IQ. The books put a spin on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s famed private detective Sherlock Holmes and features Isaiah Quintabe, “a brilliant 26-year old African American private eye from East Long Beach whose local reputation earned him the nickname IQ.” Quintabe”s Dr. John Watson arrives in the form of Juanell Dodson, “a semi-reformed East Side Crip who re-enters IQ’s life with a big payday case.”
While casting news remains under wraps, it’s been announced that Alcon Television will produce the series with Matthew Carnahan and Theo Travers as creators and co-executive producers, while Deon Taylor will serve as director. Ide’s novel series currently has four titles, namely IQ, Righteous, Wrecked and Hi Five.
Elsewhere in entertainment, Taika Waititi is developing two animated series of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for Netflix.
