New Balance "Sundown" Collection Uses Warm Gradient Fades
Balmy takes on the OMN1S, 997S and 850.

New Balance has presented a balmy “Sundown” collection with new takes on Kawhi Leonard‘s OMN1S as well as the popular 997S and 850 lifestyle silhouettes. An apt follow-up to January’s 4-shoe “Inspire the Dream” collection, each of the silhouettes in this vibrant trio uses warm red-to-yellow gradient fades that make a sweltering statement by honoring players who “work late nights.”
Accompanied by bold marketing that states “The best player in the world wears New Balance,” the OMN1s is the spiritual center of the collection. Using a digital print on its knit FitWeave upper, it offers performance and looks in equal measures thanks to black accents and other technological advancements like an UltraHeel lockdown system and FuelCell cushioning loaded in the midsole. Branding provides contrast on the collar, is kept tonal on the midfoot band and also appears on tongue and outsole alike.
Moving from on-court to casual styles, the 997S and 850 use similar gradients to their hoops-centric counterpart, but discard the layered digital print in favor of a more classic ombre fade. Both use a heavy dose of black for embellishment, but the 997S works in dashes of white on the midsole for a lighter contrast while the 850 opts to go full-on dark.
The New Balance “Sundown” collection will release on the New Balance webstore and at select stockists come March 5. Retail prices have yet to be announced.
