Classic Indie Horror Game 'Amnesia: The Dark Descent' to Get Sequel
Watch the new trailer for ‘Amnesia: Rebirth’ now.
Iconic indie horror game Amnesia: The Dark Descent spawned an entire sub-genre of defenseless survival horror games like Outlast and gained social media prominence through countless reaction videos in the early 2010s, and it is finally getting a sequel.
Original developer Frictional Games will return for Amnesia: Rebirth — they just released an announcement trailer and a few details on the upcoming title. According to the plot synopsis, Rebirth follows a new protagonist named Tasi Trianon through the Algerian desert. Many speculate the trailer’s artwork is implying the game’s setting will be placed in the early to mid 20th century, unlike the original title’s 19th century Prussia location.
However, other familiar elements from the original game will be present, such as monsters shrouded in darkness, glowing machines, spooky interactions, and of course, a leading character attempting to figure out their past.
Amnesia: Rebirth is slated to release in “autumn 2020” for PC and PlayStation 4.
In other gaming news, Gears 5 is bringing back the fan-favorite Horde Frenzy game mode.
