The necklace is made of brass, and is styled after the dog tag necklaces that were popular in the late ’90s — a period that inspires many of Demna Gvasalia‘s designs at Balenciaga, such as the recently-released shield sunglasses. For these necklaces, Balenciaga adds the dog tag to a chunky curb chain, which is finished with a “BB”-emblem clasp.
Balenciaga’s pendant itself is given an antiqued gold finish feature plenty of texture and grain, while the more traditional shiny silver offering is plain. Both are finished with the house’s moniker engraved underneath the aforementioned emblem.
Take a look at Balenciaga’s “BB” necklaces in antiqued gold and silver in the gallery above. Both can be picked up from stockists such as SSENSE for $425 USD apiece.
