Yung Lean's Vibrant New Video Sheds Light on His Somber "Boylife in EU"
A surrealist, colorful vibe as he searches for understanding.
Yung Lean continues to show his versatility and artistic growth. Late last year the mercurial Swedish rapper offered a surreal, fantasy-filled track in Wondha Mountain‘s “Divine Madness”. Then there was his drunk stumbling “Blue Plastic”, a song produced by fellow Sad Boys member Gud that slowed things down for a change of pace with minimalist drums and a flowing synth pattern. Today we get another visual from Lean in “Boylife in EU,” a colorful, over-saturated amalgamation that contrasts his somber melodies.
Here, Yung Lean is reaching out for listeners to see the real him with paranoia about loyalty and recurring themes of loneliness. “Boylife in EU” originally premiered as part of Spazio Maiocchi’s fashion show of the same name following the group’s Sad Boys x Slam Jam Capsule Collection in 2019. The record was finalized early last year at Namouche studios in Lisbon, Portugal and looks back at his six years of ups and downs since he burst onto the scene and became an international oddity with “Ginseng Strip 2002.” Yung Lean has also announced a limited tour with spot dates all over the globe starting in March and running through May, including his most intimate show in years at Brooklyn’s Baby’s Alright.
