Nike Unveils Tartan-Clad Zoom Freak 1 "Employee of the Month"
A nod to Eddie Murphy’s employee uniform in ‘Coming to America.’
After dropping its “All Bros 3” iteration of the Zoom Freak 1, Nike has unveiled a brand new take on Giannis Antetokounmpo‘s signature silhouette, this time referencing the movie Coming to America.
Dubbed “Employee of the Month,” the sneakers see a rich “Game Royal/University Gold” colorway, boasting bold tartan patterns that nod to the employee uniform Eddie Murphy‘s character Akeem wore in the movie.
Starting at the top of the shoe, bright yellow embroidery is seen at the tongue: Antetokounmpo’s “A” logo on the left foot and “Coming to America” on the right. Besides the tongue, the plaid textiles also appear at the heel counter as well as the reversed Swoosh on the rear quarter. To contrast the vibrant checks, most of the body comes in breathable, semi-see-through black mesh complemented by a royal blue rubber piece seen in the midsection. All of these details sit atop a double-layered Zoom Air unit that offers optimal cushioning and stability for enhanced shock absorption.
The Nike Zoom Freak 1 “Employee of the Month” is currently available at Nike’s website for $130 USD, and will soon hit select retailers like Foot Locker.
In other footwear news, Nike’s LeBron 17 Low has been given a Space Jam-inspired “Tune Squad” colorway.
