MM6 Maison Margiela Announces Unexpected The North Face Collab
Set to debut at the label’s London Fashion Week FW20 runway presentation.
Ahead of its upcoming London Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2020 runway presentation, MM6 Maison Margiela has announced a collaboration with The North Face. Although MM6 Maison Margiela is a women’s line, the collaboration is expected to be a unisex range.
Tapping the outerwear specialists archive, the technical precision and functionality of the signature Expedition System of the brand are reimagined with the conceptual aesthetic of the Maison. The North Face’s Expedition System established in 1990 is a revolutionary system centered around detachable, layered pieces that help combat extreme weather conditions.
Celebrated outerwear silhouettes from the series are reimagined in circular patterns that reference the circle concept of MM6. Interlocking components that convert the protective, insulating properties of each item help carry on the modular property of the Expedition System.
Crafted with recycled down insulation the Denali Jacket, Himalayan Coat, Mountain Kaban and Nuptse puffer jacket have all been reworked and marked with a magnified MM6 Numbers logo that mears the classic embroidered The North Face logo. Rounding up the range is a tabi take on the Nuptse scarf, along with a circle backpack and clutch modeled from the shape of The North Face’s Base Camp Duffel.
Set to debut at the label’s London Fashion Week FW20 runway presentation, the MM6 Maison Margiela x The North Face collaboration will be available September 2020 online and at key MM6 and TNF flagship locations and at select retailers.
