Eminem Talks Being a Hip-Hop "Guest" in New Interview
He also speaks about ‘Music To Be Murdered By,’ the state of rap, and more.
Legendary Detroit rapper Eminem recently joined Kxng Crooked for his first interview since dropping his surprise 11th studio album, Music To Be Murdered By. On Crook’s Corner, the two discussed a range of topics including the album, Em’s writing and rhyming style, the state of rap, as well as Lord Jamar’s recent comments about how the Detroit MC is a “guest” of hip-hop.
Speaking on Jamar’s comments without referencing his name, Eminem shared “I don’t know if I’ve got a chance to say this yet, but the funny sh(t is with the whole beef with a certain person, I never said I wasn’t a guest.” He then explained how he sees place within the hip-hop industry. “I’m absolutely a guest. I never said I wasn’t. And I never said I was king of anything. I never want to be the king of hip-hop.” You can listen to Slim’s comments around the 21-minute market via the video above.
Jamar — who Eminem dissed on his recent album with the track “I Will” — took to Twitter to respond to Em’s comments. “I guess his EGO wouldn’t allow him to say ‘Lord Jamar was right the whole time, & I was buggin for coming at him the way I did…my bad…I am a guest in the house of Hip Hop.’”
