Disney and Lucasfilm Announce New 'Star Wars: The High Republic' Saga
Taking place hundreds of years before the Skywalker Saga.
Disney and Lucasfilm announced the latest saga in the world of Star Wars following Rise of Skywalker and the conclusion of the Skywalker Saga. The High Republic is a new narrative set 200 years before the first prequel film The Phantom Menace, where the Jedi Order is in control of the Galactic Empire and served as “guardians of peace and justice.”
The Jedi Order is at the peak of its heroism in this era, but will still see adversaries in the form of the Nihil, “space Vikings” that live on the fringe of the Galactic Empire, according to the creators. New smugglers, bounty hunters, and the like are expected to be highlighted in this new saga as well.
The first phase of The High Republic begins in August at the Star Wars Celebration Anaheim convention where feature five releases will be announced: young adult novel Into the Dark, middle-school novel A Test of Courage, comic book series The High Republic Adventures, another comic book series from Marvel called The High Republic, and finally a novel called The Light of the Jedi.
