Diesel is addressing the need for more environmentally respectful practices in the fashion industry by launching its “Diesel Upcycling For” initiative. The new series of collections align with the brand’s “For Responsible Living” strategy, which focuses on a commitment to a more sustainable future. Diesel’s strategy is to use upcycling and creative reuse to reduce the consumption of raw materials, while allowing different designers to reinterpret existing materials into new products.

The first collection of the series kicks off with a collaboration with 55DSL. Drawing from Diesel’s iconic heritage denim range, the duo rework archive pieces and prototypes to create a limited-edition run of 5,055 colorful, sporty pieces. Tops are made out of patchworked prints, denim shirts are reworked with flannel and jackets are combined with hoodies. Tie-dye treatments, mineral dyes and overlapping logos bring a reworked aesthetic to the line, while a QR code on each garment can be scanned, directing the purchaser to a page that details how each garment was made.

First presented at Milan Fashion Week, “Diesel Upcycling for 55DSL” is available now on Diesel’s website, at flagship stores and at select retailers worldwide.
