New York-based label Collina Strada presented a colorful display of florals and other vivid prints throughout it’s Fall/Winter 2020 “Garden Hoe” collection at New York Fashion Week, putting together a splashy range of sustainably-minded pieces. Founder Hillary Taymour’s green messaging remained at the forefront, and this season, she branched out into her first collaboration by tapping headphone maker Skullcandy, a fellow environmentally conscious brand.
The partnership also allows Collina Strada to experiment with merging luxury fashion and technology, a strategy that several other brands have tried recently as well, including Don C and Beats’ Chicago-inspired edition for LeBron James. Collina Strada’s take sees the headphones jazzed up with tie-dye and graffiti designs, the two colorways blending in seamlessly with the vibrant dresses, knitwear and velvet frocks.
The sustainable concept was pushed even further at the FW20 show last week, as Taymour called upon Paramore’s Hawley Williams (who is also an environmental activist) to stage a live performance. Skullcandy, meanwhile, continues to focus on the environment through its efforts with the Protect Our Winters non-profit organization.
Elsewhere at NYFW, many buyers recently agreed that sustainability is one of the most pressing demands for consumers today.
