adidas Football Unveils Match Ball for Champions League Knockout Rounds
Inspired by the city of Istanbul.
With the Champions League knockout round set to begin tonight, adidas Football has revealed the official match ball that will be used. The ball is inspired by the city of Istanbul, which will host the 2019/20 Champions League final in May this year.
The stand-out feature of the design is a hand-printed purple artwork that runs across the ball. This artwork is an interpretation of a map of Istanbul, focusing on the Bosphorus narrow, a strait of water in the city that acts as the bridge between Europe and Asia, while the color palette is a reference to sun set over Istanbul. Contrasting the eye-catching pattern is the signature Champions League star motif, which runs across the upper.
