During a recent interview, Sony Pictures Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Tony Vinciquerra, revealed that the studio is developing three movies and seven TV shows based on PlayStation game franchises. “We have a program within the company called ‘One Sony,’ said Vinciquerra. “You’ll be seeing a lot more integration of Sony companies together.”
Sony Pictures also does not have plans to offer movies on streaming platforms and in theaters concurrently. Vinciquerra notes “more flexibility on cinema exclusive windows” in the future with a belief that a 30-day window makes sense for most movies. The CEO believes that focusing on a promotional plan for roll-out shorter than a traditional 90-day or 45-day window will allow the studio “to monetize our marketing between theatrical and home entertainment.”
