The Pagani Huayra is arguably Italy’s most exotic and wild hypercar, and now the incredibly rare machine has put on its Air Force suit in homage to Frecce Tricolori, the world’s largest aerobatics patrol.

Aptly dubbed the Pagani Huayra Tricolore, this hypercar celebrates the patrol’s 60th anniversary with all the extravagance, flair, and precision the team showcases in its death-defying air stunts. Taking form on the open-top model, the car takes inspiration from Aermacchi MB-339A P.A.N. jets and features performance upgrades from the Huayra Imola — Pagani’s most hard-core race car for the road.

Only three of the Tricolore models are due to be built, each sporting an exposed blue carbon fiber body finished with the tricolor scheme of the Italian flag down its side. Aeronautical design details come in the form of its rear wing which is inspired by the plane’s tail fins, its turbine wheels, and the use of aluminum billets inside and out.

In the center of the hood, you’ll find what Pagani calls the “pilot tube.” This is used on jets to measure the macroscopic air speed, which in turn allows pilots to understand the jet’s aerodynamic capabilities while in the air. For the Huayra, this will do pretty much the same, with information being displayed in knots and mach speed inside the cabin.

Elsewhere, Pagani has updated the car’s styling with a new front splitter and a rear diffuser that help with airflow, while inside you’ll find various nods to aerospace engineering with aerospace-grade alloys used throughout. Alongside this, the interior has been treated to a lightweight reduction that was achieved using composite materials for things such as the floor mats, while seats are inspired by those found in the Zonda Tricolore.

The most exciting part, of course, is the engine. Power comes from a Mercedes-AMG-developed V12 engine that produces 840 HP and 1,100 Nm of torque, which is plenty considering it only weighs 1270 kg. As a result, 0-62 MPH times can be expected to be around three seconds.

Limited to three examples, the Pagani Huayra Tricolore will cost €5,500,000 EUR before tax (approx. $6.735m USD). Take a closer look at the model above.
