BROCKHAMPTON's "Gay" Capsule Represents and Empowers the LGBTQIA+ Community
Enlisting activists from GLAAD’s Youth Engagement Program for its Kevin Abstract-directed and Ashlan Grey-shot lookbook.
Super-group BROCKHAMPTON has relaunched its “Gay” clothing line, introducing a five-piece capsule comprising T-shirts, hoodies, and hats.
Creative directed by the band’s Kevin Abstract and shot by Ashlan Grey (BROCKHAMPTON’s official videographer and photographer), the lookbook sees a cast of activists from GLAAD’s Youth Engagement Program — a group of LGBTQIA+ and ally activists that use their voice and platforms to promote LGBTQ acceptance and equality in the media. Much like GLAAD, BROCKHAMPTON’s “Gay” collection acts as a vessel for representation and empowerment within the queer community, further expressing this message in the mainstream media and in retail spaces.
The core piece in the collection is the “Gay” T-shirt. Appearing in blue, red, or black with a rainbow “Gay” gradient graphic, the piece is an essential look in the capsule and is joined by a similar blue hoodie and a black-rainbow cap.
BROCKHAMPTON’s “Gay” capsule can be seen in the lookbook above, and everything can be purchased (alongside other band merch) on Zumiez’s website. The “Gay” collection is priced from $29.95 USD.
In other news, Carhartt WIP has teamed up with Regina’s Grocery and Uncle Paulie’s for a charitable capsule collection.
