Following the 500-piece release of the Tribute to Fifty Fathoms MIL-SPEC back in 2017, Swiss luxury watchmaker Blancpain is once again revisiting its quintessential diver, this time employing the help of famed American watch expert HODINKEE.

Opting to stay true to the timepiece’s utilitarian heritage, the new model foregoes any flashy decorative elements, simply presenting a sturdy 40mm brushed stainless steel case paired with a robust black nylon NATO strap to match the black sapphire dive bezel.  Sandwiched between two crystals of the same material is a clean, matte black dial with round and rectangular indices providing perfect symmetry alongside a diamond-shaped index at 12 o’clock, counterbalanced by white and orange two-tone split moisture indicator above the 6 o’clock position. As for the heart of the watch, powering it is Blancpain’s in-house Caliber 1154, fully automatic with a power reserve of 100 hours.

For those interested, the HODINKEE x Blancpain Fifty Fathoms MIL-SPEC will be limited to just 250 pieces, with 200 available on the New York-based website’s online store and the remaining 50 at select Blancpain boutiques. Pricing goes for $14,400 USD.

Elsewhere in watches, OMEGA has crafted two De Ville Tresor watches in support of Orbis International.
