TAG Heuer and Bamford Watch Department have reunited for a new collaboration, with an exclusive Aquaracer timepiece. The collaborative model features a number of eye-catching details, with its bold orange details and titanium finishing making the watch stand-out.
As well as the titanium — which is both hypoallergenic and corrosion resistant — the watch also features black-gold-plated hands with orange lacquer, an unidirectional rotating bezel and three-row sandblasted bracelet. The orange theme continues across the model, with dashes also appearing on the bezel and around the flange. Bamford’s TAG Heuer collaborative Aquaracer has professional-level functionality guaranteed to a depth of 300m, and a the Calibre 5 movement.
Speaking to HYPEBEAST about the launch of the collaboration, George Bamford explained its archival influence. “I am like a kid in a candy store when I visit the archives at TAG Heuer and I am always inspired by the history of the brand. The orange design elements and sporty bezel are reminiscent of TAG Heuer pieces that were launched between 1979 and 1994 such as the first racing stopwatch which has orange minute markers and the Calculator which has orange elements. All paved the way for the Aquaracer collection, which made its official debut in 2004. I love how watches evolve and I am honored to be part of the Aquaracer journey.”
Bamford also discussed why he wanted to work with the TAG Heuer Aquaracer, adding that it “is about pushing the boundaries design-wise but also in life. The Aquaracer is known for being tough enough to face any challenge so it was the perfect model to create the ultimate tool watch.” The idea of creating the “ultimate tool watch” is central to the collaboration, with Bamford adding, “The Aquaracer is a watch that will stand up and will be beaten and worn anywhere and everywhere. I wanted it in matte titanium so it is lightweight and resilient. It has this ruggedness which says ‘challenge me’ and I love that.”
The Bamford Watch Department x TAG Heuer Aquaracer is available now at TAG Heuer boutiques and online. Limited to just 1,500 models, the watch is priced at £3,250 GBP (approximately $4,275 USD).
For more watches, Bamford Watch Department has also recently worked with Girard-Perregaux.
