Joe Biden Has Been Elected President of the United States
“I will be a President for all Americans — whether you voted for me or not.”
The numbers are in and it has officially been announced that Joe Biden will be the 46th president of the United States. Pushing close to 78 years in age, Biden will become the oldest elected president with his running mate Senator Kamala Harris becoming the first female, first Black and first South Asian vice president.
The news was confirmed once Biden recaptured the Midwestern states Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania which drove Biden’s Electoral College votes up to 273 versus Trump’s 214 — thus securing the win for the Democratic Party. It is also worth mentioning that Biden received a staggering 74 million popular votes (Trump’s winning election in 2016 was just shy of 63 million popular votes). Biden’s team tweeted: “America, I’m honored that you have chosen me to lead our great country. The work ahead of us will be hard, but I promise you this: I will be a President for all Americans — whether you voted for me or not. I will keep the faith that you have placed in me.”
And with the passing of the torch, the Republican Trump-era stops at a single term. Look for the Inauguration of Joe Biden to take place on January 20, 2021.
