Gorillaz Go Joyriding in "The Valley of the Pagans" MV
‘Grand Theft Auto’-inspired visuals.
Gorillaz has put out a brand new single titled “The Valley of the Pagans,” featuring Beck. The track is the eighth episode of Gorillaz’s Song Machine series and comes with a vibrant music video inspired by Grand Theft Auto.
Running at a little under the four-minute mark, the song is steeped in a funky midtempo groove signature to Gorillaz’s distinctive sound — lush synths, catchy guitar riffs and crisp drums. The instrumentals set the stage for Beck’s unique vocal cadence. Accompanying the song are visuals depicting 2D, Murdoc, Noodle and Russel cruising around CGI Los Angeles in a low-rider called Pagan. The animation is reminiscent of Grand Theft Auto and illustrates a devilish joyride into a sinister computer-generated underbelly of the city.
