Balenciaga Gives Its Tyrex Sneaker a Motocross Biker Boot Makeover

Balenciaga‘s Tyrex is hardly a shrinking violet, appearing in a myriad of daring colorways that make its asymmetrical design pop even more. Now, the Demna Gvasalia-helmed label has taken its sneaker one step further, presenting the Tyrex Leather Biker Boot.
First seen during Balenciaga’s Fall/Winter 2020 runway show — which not just referenced motorcross with these boots and full leather looks, but also climate change — the divisive high-top Tyrex truly is something new in the footwear industry. It combines the anatomical sole unit from the Tyrex, as well as a take on its signature toe detailing, with the body of a motorbike boot.
The result is dynamic and futuristic. It is made from white leather and is overlayed with shiny black shin guards that are branded with Balenciaga’s dual logo, while a red calf guard on the rear is also added and sports more branding. Details are everywhere which makes this offering rather authentic, for example, ankle ventilation has been added and is once more branded-up, and there is toe ventilation too.
