Sean Wotherspoon and DRx Romanelli Transform adidas Garments Into Custom Furniture
The eco-friendly chairs will be raffled off to debut adidas’ RE:NEW initiative.
In line with his recent LN-CC capsule, DRx Romanelli is introducing another set of upcycled furniture ideal for lived-in living spaces. In partnership with pal Sean Wotherspoon, Romanelli is introducing a selection of chairs and loveseats crafted from vintage adidas apparel to be given away as adidas’ debut RE:NEW project.
Part of adidas’ CONFIRMED app, RE:NEW is an eco-conscious effort that seeks to offer vintage and upcycled items with less detriment to the environment, a conceit that’s well within Romanelli’s wheelhouse. For this effort, Romanelli invited Wotherspoon to source primo vintage adidas garments for Romanelli to transform into a eight one-off chairs and loveseats. Everything from graphic T-shirts, nylon windbreakers, jersey sweatpants, ripstop shorts and old school EQT items will be repurposed into panels, which Romanelli will then piece together into finished products by hand within Los Angeles, filled with sustainable cushioning.
